ExWHUEmployee Confirms Injury Blow With West Ham Star Set To Miss Next 3 Fixtures

West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez won’t return to fitness before the next international break, according to ExWHUEmployee.

The insider stated on the West Ham Way Patreon (quotes via their website) that the Mexican international is still recovering from a serious hamstring injury:

“Whilst the player is back in light training it is a slow recovery due to the severity of the tear. Alvarez is now targeting a return after the international break which starts after our game against Manchester City. That first game would be against Fulham on the 14th September.”

“Of course, the club often put a pessimistic outlook on current injuries and players sometimes return earlier than predicted but that is the current message from within the club.”

The West Ham star has been out for some time

Alvarez originally sustained the injury whilst playing for his country. He had to be taken off during Mexico’s first group match against Jamaica in the Copa America back in late June.

The 26-year-old has already been on the treatment table for two months but it looks like, based on ExWHUEmployee’s estimate, it could be another month before he is available for selection once again.

Which games will Alvarez miss?

The midfielder was not in the squad for the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend, and he will also be absent when the Hammers take on Crystal Palace this Saturday.

Alvarez is expected to miss the Carabao Cup second-record tie against Bournemouth as well and the league clash versus Manchester City at the end of this month. As mentioned, the player is currently aiming to return for the Fulham match in mid-September, but he may have to wait until the Chelsea or Brentford fixtures to start his first game of the campaign.
