West Ham are contemplating a bid for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, according to reports in the English media.
The Portuguese international only moved to England last summer but he has been a standout player for the Cottagers, racking up 187 tackles and interceptions, which is the most of anyone in the Premier League this season.
Palhinha has been linked with a whole host of other teams in recent months due to his excellent performances, with Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Aston Villa all said to be interested.
A lot will depend on who is prepared to stump up the cash for the 28-year-old. Fulham are expected to demand £60m, which is three times what they paid Sporting Lisbon just under a year ago.
Can West Ham afford Palhinha?
The Portuguese star is clearly being eyed by manager David Moyes as a potential replacement for Declan Rice.
If the club’s talisman does leave the London Stadium, there should be more than enough funds to snap up Palhinha, although the Hammers will still probably be keen to secure his services for below Fulham’s current asking price.
