REPORT: West Ham Identify Chelsea Ace As New Transfer Market Priority

West Ham United are looking to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window – and they have identified Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham as their new top priority target.

This is according to a report from journalist Peter O’Rourke, who revealed that the Hammers are not the only Premier League club in pursuit of Abraham’s signature.

AFC Bournemouth have recently allowed Dominic Solanke to join Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £65 million. This has left them without a key centre-forward – as such, they will put forth a serious effort to replace him with Abraham.

West Ham are also in need of a striker – Michail Antonio’s best years are beyond him and the same can be said for Danny Ings. The pair have a combined age of 66 – they still have their uses, but shouldn’t be relied upon if the Hammers want to mount a serious European challenge.

What would Tammy Abraham bring to West Ham United?

Abraham has everything you would want in a modern striker. Not only is he very fast, he’s also aerially dominant at 6ft 4. Furthermore, he is an excellent finisher – much more clinical than his mediocre goal record at Roma would suggest. At just £25 million, the 26-year-old is available for an absolute steal of a price this summer.

While Abraham brings plenty to the table, it should be noted that he has struggled with injuries over the course of his career. He has had issues with his ACL in the past – an injury of this nature cost him most of the 2023/24 season, playing just eight Serie A games for Roma last season.

Due to this, Abraham can be considered an unreliable asset. If he can remain fit, he is an extremely well-rounded and effective striker – but this is a moot point if he spending most of his time on the treatment table.
