West Ham transfer target Reiss Nelson has reaffirmed his commitment to his current club Arsenal.
At the end of last month, it was reported that the Hammers had expressed an interest in the winger but, when asked about his future following the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at the weekend, Nelson said:
“I have said this before, but Arsenal is my club since I was eight years old. Of course, I want to be playing much more than I am right now. It’s good to be coming off the bench, but I want to be starting.”
“I feel like I am proving myself every day in training, so with this momentum I want to go on and keep playing more. I signed my contract, I am here now and I have just got to prove to the boss that I deserve more minutes. Like I said, when I get chances to play I can prove myself and show everyone what I can do.”
Nelson’s lack of matches still keeps a potential transfer on the table
While the 23-year-old is clearly determined to break into the Gunners’ starting eleven on a regular basis, he also makes it clear that he is not happy with the game time he is currently getting.
Nelson’s start against Liverpool on Sunday was only his fourth of the season. Despite making 17 appearances in all competitions, he has been on the pitch for just 484 minutes in total.
West Ham are looking at other wingers
Nelson is by no means the only wide player that the Irons have been keeping tabs on. Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho was also on the club’s radar but, at the moment, it does look like the England international will move on loan to Borussia Dortmund.
Juventus youngster Samuel Iling-Junior, Sunderland’s Jack Clarke and Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe are being monitored as well.
