West Ham have been offered the chance to sign former Lille attacking midfielder Yusuf Yazici, according to HITC.
The website reports that the Hammers are one of eight Premier League clubs who have been approached, with the 27-year-old seeking a new club.
Yazici has been a free agent since the beginning of July, having ended a five-year stay at Lille, but he is said to be asking for a sizeable salary.
HITC claim that the Turkish international is demanding an “eye-watering” £100,000 a week, which is likely the main reason why he hasn’t managed to find another team yet.
Who are the other clubs competing for Yazici’s signature?
In addition to West Ham, it is believed that Manchester United, Tottenham, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Fulham, Southampton and Wolves have also been given a chance to snap up the forward.
However, Galatasaray, AC Milan (where Yazici’s former Lille head coach Paulo Fonseca is now manager) and Lazio are also weighing up moves for him.
Do West Ham need a player like Yazici?
The Turkish star did have a strong season for Lille last campaign, scoring 12 goals and providing 4 assists in 42 appearances. He is versatile too, being able to play as a no.1o, as a centre-forward or on the wing if needed.
However, Irons boss Julen Lopetegui is not short of options in any of those positions. Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus can play behind the striker, while Michail Antonio, Niclas Fullkrug and Danny Ings are all available to start up front. There are a host of players who play on the right wing too, including Jarrod Bowen, Kudus and Luis Guilherme.
Combined with his excessive wage demands, it seems very unlikely that West Ham will consider making a move for Yazici in the coming days and weeks.
