“The Proposal Has To Be Good” – Club Chief Issues Warning To West Ham About £17M Rated France Star

Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro says West Ham target Youssouf Fofana won’t leave the Ligue One side this summer unless they receive an offer which meets their valuation.

It has been widely reported that AC Milan have agreed personal terms with the France international but Scuro says no team has so far managed to match the player’s price tag.

“I’ve a good relationship with Fofana, we have been clear on the price needed since day one. The proposal has to be good for Fofana but also for AS Monaco; otherwise, also staying here would be a possibility.”

West Ham are known to have considered reviving their interest in Fofana, having originally held talks with Monaco about signing him last August.

There have been conflicting reports on whether the Irons have actually tabled a bid during the current transfer window but Scuro’s comments suggest no proposal has met Monaco’s demands.

What is Fofana’s asking price?

There are different valuations depending on what report you read. Some in French media have claimed that he can be signed for as low as €20m (£17m). Others have said that Monaco want closer to €30m (£25m) to €35m (£30m).

However, with Fofana’s contract set to expire next year, his value is likely to drop the closer we get to the transfer deadline at the end of August.

West Ham have more than one rival for the midfielder

It is believed that, in addition to Milan, Arsenal have held talks with Fofana’s representatives this summer, but the Gunners have not followed up their interest with a formal bid.

Manchester United have also been mentioned as a potential suitor for the Frenchman, although they are said to be prioritising a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte at the moment.
