Roma striker Tammy Abraham has rejected approaches from West Ham and Everton this summer, according to journalist Marco Demicheli.
Speaking to Radio Rossonera (quotes translated by Sport Witness), Demicheli said that the 26-year-old is keen on a move to AC Milan, where he could link up with former Chelsea teammate Fikayo Tomori:
“[AC Milan head coach Paulo] Fonseca openly asked his managers for Abraham, who also has a wonderful relationship with Tomori. It’s being evaluated.”
“Offers have also arrived from England: from Everton and West Ham. But he said no to all of them, he’s keeping everything on standby. Of course, if another top club were to arrive, then it would be another matter. He wants Milan right now, so he’s waiting.”
Where does this leave West Ham’s pursuit of a new striker?
While it appears that technical director Tim Steidten has cast the net far and wide for a new No.9 (having also attempted to recruit Jhon Duran from Aston Villa, as well as Abraham), it appears as if he has settled on a short-term solution.
Talks with Borussia Dortmund are gathering pace as the Hammers try to find an agreement over a transfer fee for Niclas Fullkrug. The German is 31 years of age but he has been prolific in front of goal over the last couple of years.
A move for a younger forward has been explored
Reports in the French media have also confirmed that West Ham have reignited their interest in Elye Wahi. The Irons did consider buying the 21-year-old before he left Montpellier and joined Lens last summer.
However, with Wahi now said to be back on the market, a fresh approach could be considered. Bringing in both Fullkrug and Wahi during the same window may stretch the budget too far but we shall have to wait and see.
