West Ham are weighing up a bid for Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, according to the Evening Standard.
The newspaper claims that the Hammers’ technical director Tim Steidten is a “long-time admirer” of the Guinean international, who has been in excellent form this season.
Guirassy has racked up 30 goals in 30 appearances for Stuttgart, and the move looks even more attractive due to a release clause in his contract.
Clubs can sign the 28-year-old for just €17.5m (£15m) and his low price is expected to attract plenty of other clubs as well.
Guirassy has several suitors
Manchester United and Newcastle have been linked with the forward over the past six months and both teams may seriously contemplate a bid due to their limited budgets.
However, it is believed that Borussia Dortmund may pose the biggest threat to West Ham in the race to snap up Guirassy.
Reports suggest that the Champions League finalists have already contacted the player’s agent about a potential switch to Signal Iduna Park.
West Ham are expected to buy at least one striker this summer
Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are the club’s two main strikers at the moment but there are doubts over the futures of both players.
Steidten is said to be on the lookout for a new No.9, but Guirassy is not the only target being considered. Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke have also been mentioned as possible alternatives.
However, the England pair would cost a great deal more than Guirassy. Despite having just a year left on his contract, it is believed that Toney’s valuation is £60m, while Solanke is likely to be worth a similar amount.
Dortmund’s interest in Guirassy, though, means the Irons may not have much time to secure the Guinean’s services.
