Journalist Reveals West Ham Have ‘Enquired’ About £70M Rated Spanish Ace But Chelsea Are Currently Favourites

West Ham have been in touch with Atletico Madrid about Samu Omorodion, according to LondonWorld reporter Rahman Osman.

The journalist says the Hammers have “enquired” about the Spanish striker’s availability but it is Chelsea who have advanced negotiations the furthest, having had direct talks with Atletico:

West Ham have been mentioned as potential suitors for Omorodion over the past month, with some reports suggesting that a £30m bid was lodged.

However, it is believed that Atletico are holding out for an eyewatering £70m so you can understand why Julen Lopetegui’s side may have decided to move on to other targets.

Another La Liga striker is on West Ham’s radar

In addition to Omorodion, the London club have also been linked with Villarreal’s Alexander Sorloth. The former Crystal Palace player had an outstanding season in Spain, scoring 23 league goals.

He actually finished just behind Girona’s Artem Dovbyk in the goalscoring charts, who has been mentioned as a potential option for West Ham as well.

Two forwards may need to be signed

Southampton are said to be determined to secure the services of Danny Ings. A first approach is thought to have been knocked back by the player in mid-June.

However, the Saints are still keen on re-signing their former player. If Ings does make a return to St Mary’s, the Hammers could be in the market for multiple forwards. That may be why a move for free agent Kelechi Iheanacho has been mooted.
