West Ham have added Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund to their “shortlist” of summer transfer targets, according to reports.

TEAMtalk claims that the Denmark international, who moved to Old Trafford from Atalanta at the start of last season for £72m, could be sold for £40m, with head coach Ruben Amorim “not convinced” about his performances.

Hammers supporters on X are sceptical about the claim, with many questioning why their club would be interested in Hojlund, considering that he has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League:

Hojlund is being eyed as an alternative to Ferguson

With West Ham not including a purchase clause in their loan deal for Evan Ferguson, the Republic of Ireland international will return to Brighton this summer.

It means that the club will once again be seeking a new No.9, with Hojlund seemingly among the candidates if he is made available for transfer by his club.

West Ham would be taking a big gamble

Even for £40m, it is up for debate whether the Irons would be making the right decision to go after Hojlund. As already mentioned, he has found things difficult since moving to England.

His goal return of 12 goals in 49 Premier League appearances isn’t particularly impressive but he is still young at 22 years of age. Head coach Graham Potter may feel he can get the best out of him. A lot, though, may depend on how successful Ferguson’s loan turns out to be.
