West Ham Brace Themselves For Bids As Liverpool And Man United Plot Swoop For 14 Goal Forward

Liverpool and Manchester United are pursuing West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus, according to The Mirror.

The English tabloid claims that Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is keen on working with his former Ajax player, but there is a danger that his team could “lose out” to Liverpool.

Kudus is also on the Merseyside club’s list of transfer targets and they could make their move if Mo Salah leaves Anfield for Saudi Arabia over the coming weeks.

The Hammers only signed Kudus for £38m last year, and he had a strong first season at the London Stadium, scoring 14 goals and contributing 6 assists in 45 appearances.

Will Kudus be sold this summer?

Although the 23-year-old does have a release clause in his contract, it doesn’t become active until next year, so West Ham are under no pressure to sell.

It is believed the buyout fee stands at around £85m so, if the Irons do get approaches from Liverpool and United (or other interested teams like Arsenal and Chelsea) during the current transfer window, they will almost certainly want bids above that figure.

What has Kudus said about his West Ham future?

Speaking at the end of the season, the Ghanaian international did not give any hint that he wanted to leave the London club. Assessing his first campaign in the Premier League, he said:

“It can only get better. I’m still far off how I see myself performing in this league, but it’s good to get the first season under my belt. I have a long way to go and there’s more stuff to come.”

Of course, Kudus’s stance may change if the likes of Liverpool or United do table a formal offer but, at the moment, it seems he will stay for at least one more year (until the clause can be triggered).
