‘Overpriced And Overrated’ ‘No Thanks’ Fans Unhappy As West Ham Revive Pursuit Of £45M Rated Defender

West Ham have “renewed” their interest in Wolves defender Max Kilman, according to the Daily Mail.

Manager Julen Lopetegui is a massive fan of his former player and he is keen on bringing him to the London Stadium.

With a reported price tag of £45m, though, supporters on X don’t believe that the Hammers should be pursuing Kilman:

Kilman would be a costly outlay

Some reports have suggested that West Ham’s transfer kitty for the summer could top £100m, including sales, so the club would probably have to devote almost half their budget on one player.

Considering that Kilman is already 27 and won’t have any real sell-on value, you have to say that spending so much on him would not be a good idea. Of course, some may say that the club could negotiate down the price.

However, Wolves are under no pressure to sell due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, while there will be competitors for his signature too, with Manchester United having also been linked.

Which other centre-backs could West Ham target instead?

After failing to land Flamengo’s Fabricio Bruno, the Irons have been linked with a whole host of defenders over the past few days, including Hull City’s Jacob Greaves, Udinese’s Nehuen Perez and Lyon’s Jake O’Brien.

All of those options are likely to be cheaper than Kilman but Lopetegui seems to be pushing for the club to sign the Wolves star.
