Agents Of £40M Rated Premier League Striker Still Hoping That West Ham Move Could Happen Despite Fullkrug Deal

Jhon Duran’s representatives are pressing Aston Villa to accept West Ham’s offer for the striker, according to insider source ExWHUEmployee.

Despite having an agreement to sign Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund, it appears a bid is still on the table for Duran and, writing on the West Ham Way Patreon (quotes via their website), Ex said it could force the Hammers into making a decision:

“Duran’s agents are said to be concerned at the developments with Fullkrug and are desperate for Villa to accept our offer. Should they do West Ham will have an interesting dilemma as to what to do next.”

“Perhaps something would come with the Fullkrug deal, maybe one deal would turn to a loan, perhaps Duran could be revisited in January when he should cost less. There are a few alternatives being considered by the club.”

What is the state of play on the Fullkrug deal?

Multiple reports have confirmed that Dortmund have accepted an offer from West Ham for the 31-year-old. It is believed to be worth €27m (£23m) upfront and another €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons.

Fullkrug is said to have left Dortmund’s training camp and he will fly in for a medical at some point this weekend.

Could West Ham revive their interest in Duran?

Considering how far along the Fullkrug deal is, it seems unlikely that Julen Lopetegui’s side will reignite their pursuit of the Colombian international. Villa have held firm on their £40m valuation and they have shown no signs of softening their stance.

It’s a pretty similar situation to when Chelsea entered talks for Duran earlier in the summer. Neither London club were prepared to pay the asking price. As things stand, Fullkrug will be the only striker to make the switch to the London Stadium.
