Jesse Lingard is training with West Ham to keep up his fitness, according to Sky Sports.
It is believed that the former Manchester United player, who spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan with the Hammers, could be handed a short-term contract by manager David Moyes.
Fans on X are very much split down the middle on whether they would welcome Lingard back to the club:
Take him back ❤️⚒

Lingard was excellent during his time at West Ham
The England international’s statistics from his spell with the Irons speak for themselves. 9 goals and 5 assists in 16 appearances is an outstanding return.
However, Lingard has not replicated that form since then, spending another season on the bench with Manchester United before an ill-fated twelve months spell at Nottingham Forest.
West Ham are pursuing a similar player
Reports emerged yesterday that the Hammers have held discussions about signing Mohammed Kudus from Ajax. In some ways, the 22-year-old is a younger version of Lingard.
He’s capable of playing as an attacking midfielder, on the wing or even up front. Last season, he also racked up 18 goals in all competitions.
If Kudus was signed before the transfer window closes, you wouldn’t think a move for Lingard would be considered. For now, it seems like there is a small chance that the midfielder could be handed a contract.
