Agent Claims £34M Summer Signing Now Regrets “Going To West Ham” Amid Fallout From Arsenal Confrontation

Football agent Vincenzo Morabito claims that he has heard that Jean-Clair Todibo now regrets his decision to join West Ham.

The Frenchman was also heavily linked with Juventus, but the Bianconeri couldn’t come up with the necessary funds to complete the transfer and he made the switch to the London Stadium instead. Speaking to Radio Goal (quotes via Tutto Napoli), Morabito said:

“Todibo is sending messages to Juve, he regretted going to West Ham, but I think [sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli hardly goes for players who have said no to him.”

“This morning I spoke with the West Ham director who told me that Todibo will leave.”

Why is Todibo unhappy at the club?

The centre-back is believed to have had a confrontation with head coach Julen Lopetegui at half-time during the 5-2 defeat to Arsenal.

Todibo has not started for the Hammers between that game and the Manchester City fixture, although it is believed that injuries are part of why he hasn’t featured prominently.

West Ham have an agreement in place to buy the defender

While Todibo is ostensibly on loan from Nice until the end of the season, the move becomes permanent based on certain conditions. One of those has already been met; he has played 5 league games. The second is also easily achievable with the club only needing to avoid relegation.

The Irons paid a £4m loan fee for the 25-year-old, and they will pay a further £30m if the transfer is finalised at the start of July. Of course, there is nothing stopping the club from simply selling him on straight away at that point but, due to the terms of the loan deal, there is unlikely to be a way for him to leave the club in January.
