West Ham Tipped To Sign £60M Rated Star On Loan In January But They Face Fight With 3 Other Teams

West Ham could be in with a chance of signing Brighton striker Evan Ferguson on loan during the January transfer window, according to The Telegraph.

The English newspaper claims that the Republic of Ireland international could leave the Amex on a temporary basis in search of game time.

Ferguson has only started three games in all competitions so far this season, with just one of those coming in the Premier League (the 1-0 win over Newcastle last month).

His one and only goal was scored against Wolves in a 2-2 draw, and the feeling is that he needs to get more minutes to aid his development.

3 other Premier League teams are pursuing Ferguson

In addition to the Hammers, The Telegraph mention Newcastle, Fulham and Leicester as potential suitors for the 20-year-old if he does become available on loan in the New Year.

While Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in Ferguson previously, all three teams wanted to buy him and, currently, Brighton are not interested in letting him leave permanently.

That should, therefore, give the likes of West Ham an opportunity to secure his services, at least until the end of the season.

Signing a new No.9 is a top priority for West Ham

With summer recruit Niclas Fullkrug still on the sidelines with an Achilles problem, there is a dearth of options up front. Neither Michail Antonio nor Danny Ings are producing the necessary goal output in the German’s absence.

A move for a young, promising striker like Ferguson would, therefore, make a lot of sense. The London Stadium would be a more attractive destination than somewhere like Leicester, while the Irons can also offer more game time than a team like Newcastle, who already have a well-established No.9 in Alexander Isak
