Emile Heskey believes that West Ham transfer target Evan Ferguson should join his former team Leicester City on loan.
The Brighton striker has been linked with several clubs, including the Hammers, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Fulham but, speaking to Instant Casino, Heskey said Ferguson would benefit most from working under Ruud van Nistelrooy at the King Power Stadium:
“He’s a young lad, full of energy, hungry, he can score goals. I was very surprised when they were talking about him going out on loan because having seen what he’s done before. I think he could do really well for another club. Arsenal, probably not, but other sides, probably.”
“I actually think he would be perfect for my old club Leicester City. I would love to see him join the club for six months and what a great opportunity it would be for a young forward to work with Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was one of the best in the modern era. Of course, he’d be under no illusions that it would be a bit of a scrap, but I think a move to Leicester could be a move that ticks all boxes.”
Will West Ham make a move for Ferguson?
Multiple reports have suggested that the Irons are interested in the Republic of Ireland international but they are not willing to wait until the end of the month for Brighton to make a decision.
The Seagulls are waiting to find out how long Danny Welbeck could be out injured for before sanctioning Ferguson’s exit on loan.
Are the club looking at any other strikers?
Several names have been doing the rounds, including Lyon’s Georges Mikautadze, Corinthians’ Yuri Alberto, Middlesbrough’s Latte Lath, Spartak Moscow’s Manfred Ugalde and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez.
However, at the moment, no one has emerged as the No.1 target. Bringing in a new forward is expected to be a top priority for West Ham considering the injuries sustained by Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio.
