West Ham are set to restart “negotiations” with Brighton over signing Evan Ferguson, according to ExWHUEmployee.
Writing on his Patreon, the insider source says that the collapse of Victor Boniface’s move to Al Nassr means that the Bundesliga champions will cool their interest in Ferguson, paving the way for the Hammers to swoop in.
Talks with Brighton are likely to centre around a loan deal, but it has been suggested that the Seagulls are also open to offloading the Republic of Ireland international on a permanent basis.
With Ferguson’s asking price said to be around £40m, though, that is unlikely to be a fee that Graham Potter’s side can pay this month, although there is the possibility of the loan including a purchase clause of some kind.
Ferguson still has other suitors
While West Ham appear to be the club pressing the most to snap up the 20-year-old at the moment, it is believed that Brighton have received enquiries from at least five other teams.
In addition to Leverkusen, reports indicate that Arsenal, Everton, Bournemouth and Tottenham have registered their interest in Ferguson as well.
West Ham are leaving no stone unturned
With a bid having been made for PSV Eindhoven’s Ricardo Pepi and, with the club having reportedly agreed personal terms with Ajax’s Brian Brobbey, the Irons seem to be spinning several plates currently in order to secure a No.9 ahead of Monday night’s transfer deadline.
RB Leipzig’s Andre Silva and Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz have also been considered as options but, based on what is being said by reliable sources, it does look like Ferguson is the top priority for West Ham. We shall have to wait and see how talks progress over the coming days.
