The representative of West Ham transfer target Emile Smith Rowe is “speaking to teams” as the player looks for a transfer away from Arsenal, according to LondonWorld reporter Chris Wheatley.
Speaking on the Chris Wheatley Show, the journalist confirmed that the 23-year-old is actively seeking a move but it will take a “really good fee” to secure his services:
“Smith Rowe is certainly speaking to, or his representative is speaking to teams at the moment and looking for the best move for him.”
“I think it’s possible that he could find a team before pre-season but again, there might be a longer wait for him to find a team because I know Arsenal do want to get a really good fee for him because he’s a really talented player. So, yeah, Smith Rowe certainly one of those players who could be on the way out [of Arsenal] this summer.”
How much will it cost to sign Smith Rowe?
West Ham made an enquiry about a loan move back in January but the proposal was knocked back by the Gunners. It is believed that the London club will only sanction a permanent sale.
At the time, it was reported that Smith Rowe was valued at the same amount as Mason Mount, who cost Manchester United an initial £55m when he joined from Chelsea last year. You can’t see the Hammers paying that for the Arsenal star.
West Ham may need to sign an attacking midfielder
With Lucas Paqueta potentially facing a lengthy ban from the FA, Julen Lopetegui’s side will likely be forced into replacing him and Smith Rowe would be a strong candidate.
However, his price could well put the Irons off from making an offer, and there is a good chance they will pursue a cheaper alternative instead.
