West Ham Hope To Agree Personal Terms With £35M Rated Forward As They Try To Steal March On Chelsea And Villa

West Ham are set to make “fresh contact” with the agents of Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville, according to CaughtOffside.com.

The website claims that the Hammers are looking to agree personal terms with the Dutchman as they try to secure his signature ahead of rival Premier League clubs.

Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brighton have also been credited with an interest in Summerville but those teams haven’t advanced talks as far as Julen Lopetegui’s side.

Whether West Ham are in a position to match Leeds’s asking price for the winger, though, is another matter entirely.

How much would Summerville cost?

Last month, respected journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Leeds are demanding between £35m and £40m for the 21-year-old.

That is a massive amount of money for someone playing for a Championship club but he was the league’s Player of the Season last campaign and he did score 20 goals.

West Ham have identified several other candidates to strengthen the left-wing

Summerville is not the only left winger that the Irons have been linked with in recent weeks. They have also looked at Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson.

The Gunners forward would be considerably cheaper than Summerville, although there are reports that Leicester City have entered talks to sign the 23-year-old over the last few days.

Technical director Tim Steidten has considered other names as well, including Vitoria Guimaraes’s Jota Silva (who could be available for less than £10m) and Corinthians winger Wesley Gassova.

At the moment, it appears Summerville is the preferred target, but West Ham would probably have to persuade Leeds into lowering their asking price, even if they do manage to get an agreement with the player first. It’s definitely a transfer story to keep an eye on between now and the end of the transfer window.
