West Ham are “keen” on securing the services of Roma striker Tammy Abraham on a loan deal, according to HITC.
The website claims that the former Chelsea player is among the forwards that technical director Tim Steidten is considering as the Hammers look to strengthen their options upfront before the transfer deadline.
Niclas Fullkrug has already been brought in from Borussia Dortmund for £27m but there is still a lack of depth in terms of out-and-out strikers in the squad.
Manager Julen Lopetegui does have Michail Antonio and Danny Ings available to him, but the latter could be offloaded to another team in the next couple of weeks.
Is a move for Abraham realistic?
It has been reported that the 26-year-old has turned down a move to the London Stadium already this summer. His preferred destination is said to be AC Milan.
Roma are also hoping to raise money from selling Abraham in order to fund their own transfer business so a loan deal may not be acceptable to them.
Have West Ham looked at alternatives?
HITC report that reigniting interest in Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran can’t be ruled out but, like with Abraham, it would have to be a loan move, as the Irons’ transfer kitty is very much depleted following the arrivals of eight other players.
A bid of £30m (plus Lewis Orford) was rejected by Villa at the end of July so it would be a surprise if they were willing to accept a temporary move.
A clause with an obligation to buy (based on certain conditions) is something that West Ham may consider proposing but there is no guarantee that would be any more palatable to Villa.
At the moment, deals for either Abraham or Duran don’t look that likely but things could change before August 30th.
