West Ham transfer target Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is “open to the possibility” of leaving Chelsea, according to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett.
The 26-year-old only joined the Blues from Leicester City for £30m last summer but he has found game time hard to come by and he is seeking more minutes.
Dewsbury-Hall has been identified as a transfer target by the Hammers, who are looking to bring in a midfielder on loan during the January transfer window.
They were also reportedly considering an approach for his teammate Carney Chukwuemeka but Chelsea are now said to be only willing to sell the former Aston Villa player.
A move for Dewsbury-Hall may hinge on who the manager is
Dorsett also claims that West Ham have “yet to decide whether to make an official approach” to Chelsea but that is unlikely due to the uncertainty over the manager situation.
Julen Lopetegui could be sacked imminently, with Graham Potter lined up to replace him if he agrees to take the job. At the time of writing, the 49-year-old has not decided between the Irons and Everton.
Once there is more clarity on the manager front, an offer for Dewsbury-Hall could then be tabled.
West Ham are keen to reinforce multiple positions
Midfield is by no means the only area of the pitch where the club are hoping to strengthen this month. The injuries to captain Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio mean that a new No.9 is a top priority.
Many feel that bringing in another centre-back should be explored as well. At the moment, there are only three players (Jean-Clair Todibo, Max Kilman and Konstantinos Mavropanos) for that position. If one or two get injured, the manager would have to rely on youngsters.
