West Ham transfer target Brian Brobbey has been “offered” to three other Premier League clubs, according to reports.
The Hammers were hoping to seal the signature of the Dutchman on loan this month but it now transpires that Manchester United, Tottenham and Everton are also in the running for his signature.
GiveMeSport reports that “intermediaries” have “touted” Brobbey to several teams and it is still not clear which clubs will table an offer.
Manchester United are said to be still weighing up whether to bring in a striker before the January transfer window closes, while Tottenham require a replacement for the injured Dominic Solanke.
Brobbey has expressed an interest in moving to Old Trafford
What may concern West Ham is the forward’s previous comments. Speaking last summer, the 22-year-old admitted that he would like to join Manchester United, among others. Asked about his dream club, Brobbey replied:
“Arsenal, I think that is a very nice club. If you look at that stadium. A very nice club, but that also applies to Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid.”
Where do West Ham stand in negotiations?
Ajax have already made it clear that they are not open to loaning out Brobbey unless there is an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
Reports in the Dutch media claim that the Eredivisie side want at least €30m (£25.3m) for the striker, with another €5m (£4.2m) in add-ons.
That is quite a substantial figure when you consider his scoring record this season. Brobbey has only found the back of the net 3 times in 29 appearances. However, it must be pointed out that he has only started 18 of those games.
The Netherlands international did score 22 goals for Ajax last campaign, and that also has to be factored in.
