West Ham fullback Ben Johnson could be sold when the January transfer window opens, according to insider Sean Whetstone.
The defender’s contract is set to expire next summer and talks over an extension have broken down after the player demanded a £60,000 a week salary.
Considering that Johnson has only made one appearance in the Carabao Cup this season, supporters on X are more than happy to see the academy graduate leave the London Stadium:
What’s he been smoking 😂

It’s been a quick fall from grace for Johnson
In March last year, it was reported that the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool were pursuing the right-back’s signature, but he is not expected to join that calibre of team if he leaves the Hammers in the New Year.
Johnson has struggled for game time over the past 18 months, having made only 9 league starts for David Moyes’ side last campaign.
The improved form of a West Ham teammate hasn’t helped the player
Vladimir Coufal’s performances in recent months have seen the Czech international return to the level that he showed when he first arrived at the club in 2020.
The defender already has 4 assists in 11 Premier League appearances and, with Thilo Kehrer now seen as Coufal’s backup, Johnson has found himself out in the cold. A departure from West Ham now looks almost inevitable.
