West Ham Named As One Of 3 Premier League Clubs Leading The Race To Sign Ivorian Wonderkid

West Ham are interested in signing Hammarby winger Bazoumana Toure, according to Aftonbladet (via fotbollskanalen.se).

The Swedish publication claims that the Hammers are among three Premier League teams leading the battle for the Ivorian’s services, along with Aston Villa and Brighton.

A whole host of clubs have sent scouts to watch Hammarby recently, with it being assumed that most are there to see Toure in action.

When the 18-year-old played against Hacken last month, no less than five scouts from top European sides were in the stands, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Wolves, Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen.

Other reports have linked Toure with moves to the likes of Crystal Palace, Celtic, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern Munich and Benfica.

What do fans need to know about Toure?

The teenager only made the switch to Sweden from Ivory Coast in March earlier this year. However, it hasn’t taken him long to make an impact at Hammarby.

Toure made his debut as a substitute during a 2-1 defeat to Halmstads in April before making his first start against AIK Solna in mid-May.

The Ivorian Under 20 international hasn’t really looked back from there, scoring his first goal versus Sirius a week later. He has already found the back of the net 7 times in 20 appearances for Hammarby.

West Ham are well stocked for options on both wings

Toure favours playing on his natural side, which is on the left flank, and the Hammers have already invested heavily in that position, having spent £25m on Crysencio Summerville. Manager Julen Lopetegui has deployed Mohammed Kudus regularly on that side of the pitch as well.

The young Ivorian could potentially be converted into an inverted winger but the Irons have captain Jarrod Bowen and youngster Luis Guilherme in the squad for the right-hand side.
