ExWHUEmployee Confirms West Ham “Turned Down” The Chance To Sign Arsenal Ace

West Ham “turned down” the opportunity to bring in Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson on loan before the transfer deadline, according to ExWHUEmployee.

It is believed that the 24-year-old’s agent had offered the player to several Premier League clubs but, writing on his X account, Ex said the Hammers opted against making a move for him:

Nelson actually ended up joining Fulham on loan instead, with his switch to Ipswich Town falling through.

West Ham did not need to sign another winger

It was reported earlier in the summer that the Irons were seriously considering making a move for Nelson, but technical director Tim Steidten ultimately decided to sign Crysensio Summerville from Leeds for £25m.

Head coach Julen Lopetegui is not exactly short of options on the wings, even after the departure of Maxwel Cornet to Southampton on loan.

In addition to Summerville, Luis Guilherme was snapped up from Palmeiras earlier in the summer, while the likes of captain Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus were already at the club.

Another player could have moved to the London Stadium on Deadline Day

While the Irons wrapped up a deal for Carlos Soler as expected, Ex also confirmed earlier on Friday that the club were eyeing an approach for Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka.

However, any deal was dependent on other players being offloaded so the midfielder ultimately stayed at Stamford Bridge.

Even so, it will be interesting to see whether West Ham revive their interest in Chukwuemeka in a future transfer window. He is on the periphery of the first-team squad at Chelsea and he reportedly has a £40m release clause.
