West Ham will be “offered the chance” to snap up Chelsea striker Armando Broja this summer, according to The Guardian reporter Jacob Steinberg.
The Albanian international has returned to the Blues after a disappointing loan spell at Fulham, where he made just 8 appearances and 0 starts during his six months at Craven Cottage.
With Chelsea keen to balance the books, it seems they will be prepared to listen to offers for Broja over the coming weeks.
The Hammers do have a longstanding interest in the 22-year-old, having tabled a £30m bid for the player during the 2022 summer transfer window.
However, the proposal was rejected by Chelsea at the time and Broja signed a new contract instead. Things haven’t gone too well for the player since then, with the forward sustaining a serious knee injury and then struggling to get game time following his comeback.
Are West Ham still interested in Broja?
It must be pointed out that a lot has changed since the Irons made that offer almost two years ago. Rob Newman was head of recruitment then, with David Moyes advising on targets.
Tim Steidten is now overseeing the club’s transfer business and he may feel that there are better options on the market than Broja.
Which strikers could be targeted?
Steidten is known to be a big fan of Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy. The Guinean international was originally considered as an option in January but West Ham could revive their interest with the player still having a £15m release clause in his contract.
Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke are also said to be on the club’s radar but they would be much more expensive than either Guirassy or Broja. The likelihood of a new no.9 being brought in, though, is very high, with Danny Ings having been made available for transfer.
