West Ham Get Second Chance To Sign “Stratospheric” Forward Who Only Made £29M Transfer 2 Months Ago

Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth is ‘looking to secure a move to West Ham” when the transfer window reopens, according to Caught Offside.

The Norwegian only made the switch from Villarreal to Atletico for £29m at the beginning of August but he has struggled to make an impression under manager Diego Simeone.

Sorloth has scored just one goal so far and it is believed that his representatives are already looking for other clubs, with the Hammers deemed one of the most likely destinations.

Julen Lopetegui‘s side were linked with the forward in the summer, but the former Crystal Palace player ultimately decided to join Atletico instead.

Do West Ham need another forward?

It should be pointed out that, after the Irons failed to land Sorloth, they secured the signature of Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund.

There is still a feeling that the squad is light up front. Both Michail Antonio and Danny Ings will be out of contract at the end of the season so adding more firepower in January could be worthwhile.

However, it is questionable whether there are funds available to finance a move for someone like Sorloth so only a loan deal may be viable.

Sorloth was in great form before his move to Atletico

While he may be struggling in the Spanish capital, the 28-year-old was outstanding for Villarreal last season. After scoring FOUR times against Real Madrid during a 4-4 draw back in May, his manager Marcelino labelled his performance as “stratospheric”.

If Sorloth can regain his confidence and perform at a similar level at the London Stadium, he could be an excellent signing for West Ham. We shall have to wait and see how this transfer story develops over the coming months.
