Sky Sports Reporter Reveals Man United’s Transfer Stance After Claiming West Ham Are “Interested” In Defender

Manchester United are not “actively looking to sell” West Ham target Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The journalist, who is usually pretty reliable, has confirmed that the Hammers are “interested” in the defender but Julen Lopetegui’s side are considering several different options:

Wan-Bissaka’s contract situation may well determine the player’s future. With there being little to no prospect of an extension being offered, it does suggest that the 26-year-old will be on the move before the transfer window closes next month.

Why are West Ham looking to sign a new right-back?

Ben Johnson’s decision to reject a new five-year contract and join newly-promoted Ipswich Town on a free transfer means Vladimir Coufal doesn’t have a lot of competition for his place on the right-hand side of defence.

Wan-Bissaka‘s availability makes him a logical target for the Hammers, although it seems he isn’t the only player being considered.

The club are hoping to strengthen in other areas

The Irons have a number of positions that require reinforcements before the new season kicks off. The centre of defence is also being looked at. Lopetegui wants to recruit Max Kilman from his former club Wolves but the two sides have yet to find an agreement on a transfer fee.

A cheaper alternative such as Lyon’s Jake O’Brien or Hull City’s Jacob Greaves may be pursued instead. The forward line needs to be bolstered too, with a new striker and a left winger expected to be high on Tim Steidten’s list of priorities.
