5) Mikel Merino

The 28-year-old is expected to be available for between €25m (£21m) and €30m (£25m), which is substantially below his €50m valuation on Transfermarkt.

Merino was part of the Spain squad that won the European Championships last month, but he is keen to leave his current club Real Sociedad, having turned down the chance to sign a new contract.

At the moment, it is believed that Arsenal are favourites to secure the midfielder’s signature, although the likes of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have also registered an interest.

Merino has played in the Premier League before, having spent a season at Newcastle before moving back to Spain.
