5) Tottenham – £123.8m


Not every Spurs fan was happy with the club’s activity in the transfer market this summer but they spent big on three players.

The most high-profile name is, of course, Dominic Solanke, who was brought in from Bournemouth for an initial £55m (rising to £65m).

Tottenham also secured the signatures of Archie Gray from Leeds (for £30m) and Wilson Odobert from Burnley (£25m).



They are not exactly the sort of signings that will set the heart racing but it is typical of the club’s policy; going after younger players.
