Fans of West Ham United were understandably dismayed as their team were defeated in a London derby by Tottenham Hotspur – several of them took to Twitter to air their grievances.

Much of their ire was directed at manager David Moyes. Certain sections of the fanbase believe that the Scot has outstayed his welcome at the London Stadium and that the West Ham hierarchy should look to appoint a new head coach in his place.

Supporters were not completely against Moyes, however. A few individuals were keen to defend his position, but they seem to be in the minority at this point.

Moyes out and get who in?? First half I thought we were decent and looked decent. Second half they stepped up and we didn’t. My biggest issue is that this was Rice worse ever performance, no real effort in a Spurs derby is not acceptable.

If David Moyes was in charge of any other Premier League club and had 2 wins in 13 games, would he still be in a job?

Of course he wouldn’t. The pressure is now on the board as much as it is on Moyes.

I can take a loss. But we did not go down swinging. That was Tame and quite honestly embarrassing. I question Moyes management, and I question Rice leadership. Lose our next game, and we are probably relegated.

In the game against Spurs, West Ham struggled to retain possession and created very few chances. Spurs were not at their best, but goals from Emerson Royal and Son Heung-min were enough to sink the Irons.

The dire form of West Ham this season is having a much bigger effect on the club than just the manager’s future and their relegation battle – the more the Hammers struggle this season the more likely their star player Declan Rice is to succumb to the overtures of PL rivals Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City plus the likes of Real Madrid are also credited with a serious interest in the talismanic midfielder.

West Ham currently sit in 18th position in the Premier League, just inside the relegation zone. Despite this, they are just one point from safety and have far superior goal difference to the team in 17th (Bournemouth).

Moyes’ job certainly seems to be hanging in the balance – a defeat against Nottingham Forest at the weekend could spell the end for his second managerial reign at West Ham.
