Zouma Reveals The One Key Reason He Decided To Leave Chelsea For West Ham

West Ham defender Kurt Zouma says he opted to leave Chelsea in the summer as he needed more game time.

The France international was a bit-part player for the Blues but he is now an integral first-team member at the Hammers. He feels it was the right call to make the switch:

“I needed to play more. Obviously, I was in a team that was doing really well. Coming here has allowed me to compete more to play. It’s a club that wants to progress and grow. And I want to be part of this project.”

“What already seduced me is the club. I think it’s a good club that is making great progress They did an exceptional job last year to qualify for the Europa League. And there, we will have a difficult group, we can do something this year.”

Zouma has been very impressive in his first three appearances for West Ham, having helped to secure wins against Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League as well as versus Leeds on Saturday. He was also unlucky to be on the losing side in the league defeat to Manchester United.

It has been a promising start from the 26-year-old since his £25m move, having also struck up a strong partnership with Angelo Ogbonna in the centre of defence.

Whether Zouma will be rested for the match against Rapid Vienna on Thursday evening, we shall have to wait and see.
