Zabaleta issues rallying cry to teammates

West Ham United defender Pablo Zabaleta wants his teammates to improve in ‘every way’ as they begin their new reign under manager David Moyes.

With former boss Slaven Bilic sacked and former Manchester United, Everton and Sunderland boss Moyes appointed, there is a slight sense of doubt as to whether the Hammers have actually made the correct decision over their choice in management.

But as they prepare to take on Watford on Sunday, Pablo Zabaleta insists his team must improve on all fronts – not just in the management sector.

“Training has been pretty good,” Zabaleta told the West Ham website.

“We’ve been working really well over the past few days. Of course, it’s going to be a tough game but we have a good squad – we need to work well and be focused on our next game.

“If you look at the performances this season – especially against the top sides – we need to improve in every way – offensively, defensively and we need to be a more creative team, we need to try and not concede too many goals – we need to step up.

“It is time to be positive and look forward to the season. There’s a long way to go and everything depends on us which is good.”
