“Would Be Relishing The Opportunity” Pundit Backs West Ham As Favourites To Land PL Poacher Ahead Of Rivals

Former Leeds star Noel Whelan thinks Southampton striker Danny Ings would be interested in joining West Ham this summer.

The Hammers have been named as one of five Premier League clubs (along with Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City and Aston Villa), who are interested in the 28-year-old after he turned down a new contract at St Mary’s.

Whelan feels West Ham’s qualification for the Europa League would be enough to persuade Ings into making the switch to the London Stadium:

“David Moyes is trying to sign the best British players. Ings would be relishing the opportunity to potentially play in Europe.”

Other reports have suggested Ings may only move to a team playing in the Champions League but, if none of those clubs come calling, the Irons would surely be his next port of call.

The London club are very keen to snap up a new number nine, with Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham believed to be their top target currently. However, if Ings does signal that he would be interested in moving to West Ham, the club would be wise to pursue the former Liverpool player instead.
