West Ham have made a bid of £10m for Lorient winger Alexis Claude-Maurice, according to reports in the English media.
The 21-year-old has also been linked with a move to Arsenal, but the Hammers are seemingly looking to beat their London rivals to the signing of the Frenchman.
Fans on Twitter are mostly positive about West Ham’s pursuit of Claude-Maurice:
Would be a fantastic signing, hugely talented and the type of player we should be looking at.

Looks good on YouTube/stats. Good age as well, why not?

If we have bid £10 mil, he’s probably going for £25 mil. No chance but hey you never know. Fingers crossed

Last season, the wide man scored 14 goals and provided four assists in 35 league games, although it must be said that he was playing in France‘s second tier, Ligue 2.
West Ham have previously had success recruiting in the French lower leagues, having signed Diafra Sakho from Metz.
Whether the Irons will have to battle Arsenal for Claude-Maurice’s signature, it remains to be seen. Reports in France have claimed that the Gunners have had a €7m offer rejected for the player.
Lorient are apparently looking for at least €15m, with the likes of Mainz, Lille, Borussia Monchengladbach and Monaco also interested.
