With a move for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez having fallen through, thoughts have now turned to who West Ham should consider as a potential alternative.
Callum Wilson would have been considered but he is set to sign a new contract with Bournemouth. A few people on Twitter have controversially suggested former Chelsea striker Diego Costa.
Needless to say, it sparked a lively debate on social media:
He would be a fan favourite alright and proven in PL

He’s really not the type of player for us. Older and a real trouble maker

Another trouble maker to add to the list.

A big question mark over Costa would be his attitude. He has fallen out with managers at both Chelsea and now at Atletico Madrid, and many worry that he would cause the same problems as Marko Arnautovic.
Although he is undeniably a high-quality striker, he has not been very prolific since he moved back to Spain, having scored just five goals in 25 appearances last season.
Costa’s poor recent form, combined with his disciplinary problems, would probably prove a deciding factor against making a bid for the Spaniard.
