West Ham Weigh Up Summer Deal For Out Of Favour Chelsea Veteran

West Ham retain an interest in Chelsea captain Gary Cahill, according to reports in the UK.

The 33-year-old will leave Stamford Bridge this summer when his contract expires after being frozen out by manager Maurizio Sarri.

Cahill was reportedly close to a move to Fulham in the January transfer window but opted to run down his deal with the Blues instead.

The centre-back has played only seven games this season, including four Europa League group matches as well as starts against Liverpool and Derby in the Carabao Cup.

Cahill’s only Premier League appearance came as a substitute against the Hammers back in September and he hasn’t played since the back end of November.

Whether West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini will look to make a move for the England international in the summer, it remains to be seen.

The Irons will be looking to strengthen at the back but they may opt against signing a player who turns 34 next December.
