West Ham Weigh Up Key Man’s Departure After String Of Failures That Have Cost The Club £69m

West Ham may look to dispense with the services of Director of Football Mario Husillos, according to the Football Insider. The website reports that the Argentine’s future is being discussed following a series of poor decisions in the transfer market.

The most notable error has been bringing in Roberto on a free transfer. Husillos had worked with the Spaniard at Olympiakos and is believed to have been instrumental in the goalkeeper being signed as a replacement for Adrian.

After a string of poor performances, the 33-year-old was dropped in favour of veteran David Martin for the 1-0 win against Chelsea last weekend.

However, Husillos’s decision to sign Roberto is not the club’s only concern, with the purchases of Pablo Fornals and Sebastien Haller also coming under scrutiny. Despite shelling out a combined £69m on the pair, the club have yet to see a decent return on their investment.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini worked with Husillos at Malaga and if one of his key allies does depart, it would also raise questions about the Chilean’s long term future.
