West Ham Vying With Newcastle For Italian International Defender

West Ham have taken a keen interest in Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Hammers are believed to be one of two English clubs who are looking to sign the Italian international before deadline day with Newcastle United also said to be tracking the centre-back.

Last month, it was reported that Juve were looking to offer Rugani to Arsenal as part of a deal which would have seen Hector Bellerin move in the other direction but the Gunners weren’t reportedly interested in the deal.

However, it does seem as though that Rugani would be available for the right price, with the player quite a way day the pecking order at the Serie A champions.

New Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo started Danilo, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini in a three-man defence during the 3-0 win against Sampdoria at the weekend. While Rugani was on the bench, Matthijs de Ligt is still to return to fitness while they also have another option available in Merih Demiral.
