West Ham put in a very spirited display against league leaders Liverpool on Monday, and they will need that level of performance when they face Southampton in a crucial game this weekend.

The Hammers will be without midfielder Tomas Soucek after the Czech international picked up a hip injury in the defeat to the Reds. He is expected to miss the next three weeks.

Andriy Yarmolenko (thigh) is closing in on a return to first-team action but Saturday’s match at the London Stadium may come too early for him. Jack Wilshere (hernia) and Ryan Fredericks (shoulder) are both out of contention.

For Southampton, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has two fitness concerns heading into the game. Spurs loanee Kyle Walker-Peters is a doubt due to a calf problem, while Nathan Redmond has been ruled out for at least a month with a muscular injury.
