West Ham V Newcastle Preview And Predicted XI Plus Betting Odds

West Ham performed admirably against Manchester City midweek but they still came away with nothing from the Etihad.

The Saturday evening clash versus Newcastle should be a far more even contest with the Hammers favourites to come out on top.

The Magpies have certainly been in better form recently with four wins in their last six league games. Their record signing Miguel Almiron has settled in well and the Irons’ defence will have to keep an eye on the Paraguayan.

In terms of injuries, West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has a problem at left-back. Arthur Masuaku is a doubt with a knock while youngster Ben Johnson suffered a calf injury on his senior debut against City. Aaron Cresswell could be called into action despite having a broken toe.

Fabian Balbuena is not yet fully fit after recovering from a knee injury, but Marko Arnautovic will be back in contention after missing the match midweek due to illness.

Winston Reid is back on the training pitch. The New Zealander has not played for the club for a year, but there is now a chance he could feature before the end of the season.

Jack Wilshere’s fitness remains an issue with the player still not available following ankle surgery. Andriy Yarmolenko (Achilles) and Carlos Sanchez (knee) will not play again this campaign.

Newcastle have far fewer fitness concerns. Ciaran Clark (knock) and keeper Rob Elliot (back) remain on the treatment table.

The bookies are backing the Hammers to get the three points tomorrow. They are 6/5 at BetVictor with a draw 5/2 at Betway. A Newcastle victory is currently 11/4 with Betfred.
