West Ham will want to recover from a poor showing against Cardiff City last time out. They should have the perfect opportunity at home when they face Huddersfield on Saturday.

Striker Andy Carroll has picked up another ankle injury. The 30-year-old missed the start of the season after undergoing ankle surgery before returning to action in December.

Speaking about the former Liverpool forward’s latest setback, manager Manuel Pellegrini said the extent of the injury has yet to be determined:

“We have also Andy Carroll, who has a problem with his ankle. We need to wait for some medical examination, and then after that, we will know.”

Pellegrini also revealed that Marko Arnautovic could start against the Terriers. The Austrian came off the bench for the second half in the 2-0 defeat to Cardiff.

Jack Wilshere (ankle), Carlos Sanchez (knee), Andriy Yarmolenko (Achilles) and Carlos Sanchez (knee) remain out of contention with long-term injuries.

For Huddersfield, manager Jan Siewert could be without up to eight players due to injury. Danny Williams (knee), Isaac Mbenza (calf) and Adama Diakhaby (hamstring) have all been ruled out.

Jonathan Hogg has an outside chance of recovering from a rib injury but Demeaco Duhaney is a major doubt because of a hip problem.

Laurent Depoitre (foot), Terence Kongolo (hip) and Erik Durm(muscular) will have late fitness tests ahead of Saturday’s game at the London Stadium.

The bookmakers make the Hammers favourites for the match. They are 4/7 at Sky Bet with a draw 31/10 with Unibet. A Huddersfield victory is 6/1 at William Hill.
