West Ham United Vs Aston Villa: Match Preview & Injury News

West Ham United are a strange team – in recent weeks, they’ve picked up big wins against sides such as Nottingham Forest – however, they’ve also been on the receiving end of heavy defeats, as confidence in former Manchester United manager David Moyes grows ever thinner.

West Ham will be without Maxwel Cornet, Lukasz Fabianski and Vladimir Coufal for the game against the Villans. Cornet is perhaps the closest to being available, with a return for the Ivorian being eyed up in the not-too-distant future.

In their last game, West Ham were given a comprehensive beating at the hands of Brighton. The goals were scored by Alexis Mac Allister, Joel Veltman, Kaoru Mitoma and former Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck – it was a pitiful display from the Hammers, who mustered just two shots on target across 90 minutes.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, were victorious in their previous Premier League fixture. They beat Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace by a score of 1-0 – the only goal of the game was an own goal from the Eagles’ Joachim Andersen.

The two teams met earlier in the season, where the Irons emerged victorious by a score of 1-0. In that game, which was largely uneventful, Pablo Fornals popped up in the 74th minute to give the Hammers a win on the road. Villa were managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard during this encounter – they’ve since replaced him with Unai Emery.

As such, Villa will be out for revenge in the reverse fixture. Will we see a repeat or a revenge?
