West Ham United Interested In Signing Former Celtic Hitman

West Ham United are believed to be interested in signing former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele from Lyon, according to a report by Fotomac.

With Dembele’s Lyon contract set to expire in the summer, the Hammers will be hoping to snap up the pacy hitman on a free transfer in the upcoming transfer window.

Despite this, West Ham aren’t the only club who are thought to be interested in acquiring Dembele’s services. Fotomac reports that Aston Villa, Leeds United, Inter Milan and Galatasaray are also in the race to bring the Frenchman on board.

The current season has been a disappointing one for Dembele. In 22 Ligue 1 appearances, the 26-year-old has scored just three goals – alongside a grand total of zero assists. Should West Ham win the battle to sign him up, they will be hoping for better numbers than this.

Nevertheless, he could prove to be a decent foil for Gianluca Scamacca and Michail Antonio. He isn’t the most physical forward in the world, but he possesses blinding pace and a keen eye for goal.

Outside of Lyon and Celtic, Dembele spent time in PSG’s youth academy, before making his senior debut at Fulham – he also experienced a brief loan spell at Atletico Madrid in 2021.
