West Ham United Star Posts Encouraging Injury Update On Instagram

West Ham United’s marquee signing in the summer, Gianluca Scamacca, spent plenty of time sidelined with injuries – including a knee injury that has forced him out of action since late January.

Despite this, he has uploaded a video on his Instagram page that shows him training out on the pitch – as such, it looks likely he will be fit and ready for the first game of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Scamacca’s injuries made his first season in the Premier League a particularly difficult one. Initially, he struggled to adapt to the league’s intense physicality – despite being 6ft 5, he was regularly bullied by centre-halves during aerial duels.

Moreover, he also had a relatively rotten time in front of goal. In 16 appearances for the Irons, the Italian hitman could only muster three goals in the league.

Scamacca kept the caption for his post short and sweet – he merely wrote a single word in block capitals: “OBSESSED.”

Who reacted to the Instagram post?

Several of Scamacca’s West Ham United compatriots liked the post. Among them were Thilo Kehrer, Nayef Aguerd, Pablo Fornals, Maxwel Cornet and club captain Declan Rice.

None of Scamacca’s teammates left a comment on the post, but several Hammers fans did – plenty of them appear very keen for the former Sassuolo man to remain at the club for next season, despite his disappointing debut campaign in England’s top flight.

Born in Rome, Scamacca first rose to prominence at Sassuolo – he netted 16 goals in 39 appearances for Neroverdi. Following an impressive season in 2021/22, he made the jump to West Ham for a fee in the region of £30.5 million (plus an additional £5 million in potential add-ons).

He has also earned a handful of caps for his native Italy. So far, he has made eleven international appearances for Gli Azzurri, but has yet to find the back of the net for his country. He was, however, a prolific goalscorer for Italy’s under-19 and under-21 teams, scoring a combined 17 goals between the two in 26 games.
