REPORT: West Ham United ‘Willing To Sign’ Highly-Rated Midfielder

West Ham United are believed to be ‘willing’ to complete a deal for 20-year-old midfielder Yunus Musah, who currently plays for Valencia, according to a report from Estadio Deportivo.

West Ham have reportedly approached Musah and have been in talks with his agent – despite this, a formal offer has yet to be submitted or accepted.

Additionally, the deal will reportedly not be completed until Declan Rice’s move to Arsenal is completed. Should Rice not leave the club, the Hammers will no longer pursue a move for the American midfielder.

Both Valencia and Musah appear keen on the move – Estadio Deportivo says that the two parties are ‘rushing each other’ to get the deal over the line. As such, the ball is now in the Irons’ court – can they finalise a deal?

Who else, besides West Ham United, is interested in a move for Yunus Musah?

As things stand, West Ham stand unopposed in their pursuit of Musah. Last season, Inter Milan were believed to be interested in a transfer move for the player, but their interest has gone cold since then.

As such, the Hammers should be able to complete a deal without complications, if they can satisfy all parties involved. Reportedly, they will need to pay around £21 million to secure his services, despite his release clause being much higher than this.

Yunus Musah’s career so far

Born in New York, Musah’s family moved to Italy when he was still an infant. Subsequently, he went on to join his first youth team in the form of Giorgione.

In 2012, he joined the youth academy of Arsenal. He spent seven years with the Gunners, but never made a first-team appearance for the club – in 2019, he chose to sign for Valencia in La Liga. So far, he has scored two goals in 94 games for Los Che – could the London Stadium be his next destination?

In 2020, Musah, following stints in the youth team setups of England, he opted to declare for the USA internationally. Currently, he has won 25 caps for the USMNT, but has yet to score an international goal for the Stars and Stripes.
