Journalist Names West Ham Among Three PL Clubs Trying To Sign 6 Cap International From Chelsea

West Ham are one of three Premier League teams who are keen on snapping up Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to The Athletic‘s Simon Johnson.

The journalist claims that the Hammers are expected to battle Brighton and Tottenham for the 23-year-old’s signature:

Gallagher, who has been capped 6 times by England, will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge for the right price as the Blues look to balance the books.

Which team is the favourite to sign Gallagher?

As Johnson mentions, Brighton may well be the midfielder’s likeliest destination at the moment. Chelsea are very interested in signing Moises Caicedo and they could include Gallagher in a bid for the Ecuadorian.

The Hammers are said to be second in the pecking order as, unlike Tottenham, David Moyes’ side will be playing in the Europa League next season.

How much could Gallagher cost?

Everton made a £45m bid (including add-ons) for Gallagher during the January transfer window, but the player rejected a move to Goodison Park at the time. A similar fee would likely be enough if West Ham make an approach this summer.

Alternatively, there is a possibility that Gallagher will be included in Chelsea’s offer for Declan Rice. There have been some rumours circulating that the Blues could challenge the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City for the services of the Irons captain. Whether there is any truth to that, we shall have to wait and see.

There is no disputing the fact, though, that West Ham would like to bring Gallagher to the London Stadium if some sort of agreement can be reached.
