Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat won’t be moving to West Ham this summer, according to his brother.

Nordin Amrabat, who used to play Watford, claims that his younger sibling would like to join La Liga champions Barcelona but there are also plenty of other teams keen on securing the player’s signature:

“Sofyan to West Ham? No, he wants to go to the top and his desire is to play in Spain. At Barcelona, he is high on the list but you know Barca’s financial situation. There are more clubs interested in Sofyan.”

While some Hammers supporters will be disappointed that the Moroccan international won’t be making the switch to the London Stadium, he hasn’t been at any stage a primary transfer target for the club, and it is actually somewhat surprising that Nordin was asked about a potential transfer.

Other Premier League clubs are interested in Amrabat

Amrabat has also been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool this week, while Chelsea reportedly tried to sign him in the last few days of the January transfer window.

Fiorentina’s asking price for the 26-year-old is said to be €25m (£21m) so it remains to be seen who will meet his valuation.

West Ham are targeting other midfielders

With Declan Rice heading for the exit door, Amrabat could have been a decent replacement for the club captain but manager David Moyes appears to be eyeing other options.

Fulham’s Joao Palhinha is reportedly being looked at by the Irons, although his price tag would be pretty steep. Ajax’s holding midfielder Edson Alvarez is also on the London club’s radar, along with Manchester United’s Scott McTominay.

From the looks of things, it could well be another busy summer of transfer activity, as West Ham look to improve on last season’s 14th place finish in the Premier League.
