West Ham Told To Pay 20M If They Want To Snap Up United Star In January

Manchester United will demand £20m for centre-back Phil Jones when the transfer window reopens in January, according to the Sun.

The 28-year-old, who is currently out injured with a knee problem, has been omitted from the Red Devils’ Premier League squad and it is believed the Manchester club will listen to offers for the defender in the New Year.

West Ham were interested in Jones during the summer but that was in view to a loan move, rather than a permanent deal. They eventually decided to sign Craig Dawson from Watford instead.

Whether manager David Moyes would be keen on reviving the Hammers’ interest in Jones, it remains to be seen. The London club still have their defensive problems, after conceding three goals in the first 15 minutes in the 3-3 draw against Spurs at the weekend.

However, Jones’ injury record would almost certainly put them off from signing him on a permanent basis, especially if United don’t reduce their current asking price.
